Our School

Carl Sandburg Middle School

We are excited to share our school pride with you. We welcome the opportunity to provide more information about our school and a learning environment that matches the District 15 mission:
To produce world-class learners by building a connected learning community.

Welcome to Carl Sandburg!

Welcome to Carl Sandburg Middle School!

Middle school is an important time in a student’s life—a time when students are discovering who they are, developing their interests and talents, building confidence, and preparing for their future. Our goal is to make sure every student feels valued, supported, challenged, and connected to their school.

Ensuring Excellence and Equity for All Students

Carl Sandburg Middle School, in partnership with our students, parents, and community, is committed to providing students with a world-class educational experience that maximizes their academic achievement and fosters feelings of confidence, leadership, and self-worth.

We believe that every student has the ability to learn, grow, and succeed. Ensuring excellence and equity means creating opportunities for all students to reach their potential while recognizing and responding to their individual strengths, needs, and experiences. Our dedicated staff work collaboratively to provide engaging instruction, meaningful learning experiences, and the support students need to be successful.

As a school community, we also recognize that academic success is only one part of a student’s experience. We want our students to develop the confidence to advocate for themselves, the leadership skills to positively influence others, and the sense of self-worth that comes from knowing they belong and are an important part of our community.

Partnership with families is essential to this work. When students, families, and staff communicate and work together, we create a stronger foundation for student success. I encourage families to stay connected with your child’s teachers, monitor progress through PowerSchool, ask questions, celebrate accomplishments, and reach out when additional support is needed.

I look forward to working alongside our students, families, staff, and community to continue building a school where every student is known, valued, supported, and challenged to achieve their best.
